About the Journal
The Engineering and Architecture Journal _iyA is an annual electronic publication, produced by the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University UAM. The journal aims to disseminate articles, essays, and projects resulting from high-quality and original research and academic work. It is a scholarly publication with standard scientific criteria to communicate research in exact sciences, engineering, architecture, urban planning, and the environment.
The journal is designed as a virtual space freely accessible to the university, academic, and professional community, aiming to become a prominent publication in the technical and professional fields of engineering, architecture, environment, and urban planning.
Journal Sections:
The sections and types of works to be published in the iyA Journal are scientific articles, essays, reviews, and academic and professional projects.
Notice to Authors:
To ensure the integrity of the works submitted to the iyA Journal, the lead author of the proposed works to be published must draft a letter affirming the originality of the material presented and the commitment not to submit or present the same work elsewhere for publication before knowing the decision of the journal's editorial team.
The author retains the copyright of the proposed work. However, the American University and the Editorial Board of the iyA Journal reserve the exclusive rights of first publication and reproduction of the material, governed by an open access policy under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 license.
Authors of each submitted manuscript for publication must read, sign, and submit a letter of testimony and copyright at the time of submission.
Arbitration System:
The evaluation system used by this journal is external and confidential. Articles and essays to be published undergo external evaluation using the double-blind peer review system. Referees are appointed by the Editorial Committee based on their professional profile, academic merit, and experience.
Open Access Policy:
The iyA Journal has a policy committed to open access to information and knowledge sharing. Its publications are protected and shared under the terms of the Creative Commons license with attributes of Attribution, Non-Commercial, and ShareAlike.
This means that anyone accessing the publication will not pay for it and is obligated to cite the author and/or authors of the article. Likewise, they are obliged to declare the same license for their product (article, essay, or other derivative work).
Types of Works that can be Published:
The iyA Journal publishes original and unpublished research works related to the specialties of engineering sciences, architecture, environment, and earth sciences. Those interested in publishing their works can submit their manuscripts via email: revistaiya@uam.edu.ni
Anti-Plagiarism Policy:
The Engineering and Architecture Journal (iyA) rejects plagiarism as a form of usurping third-party intellectual property and presenting it as one's own. This includes appropriating ideas, textual lines, projects, monographic works, research, images, software, designs, plans, etc., without giving credit, or definitively denying the people who contributed to science and scientific work.
Therefore, it adheres to intellectual property legislation: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS, Law No. 312: Copyright and Related Rights Law; Republic of Nicaragua. Approved on July 6, 1999. Published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 166 and 167 on August 31 and September 1, 1999:
Article 5. Copyright includes moral and economic rights that give the author full disposal and the exclusive right to exploit the work, subject to the limitations established in this Law.
It also adheres to the Research Regulations of the American University, in articles 10 and 47, which state:
Article 10) The University, by the essential principles of all scientific work, will respect the freedom of research, understanding this as the researcher's capacity to create, innovate, adapt concepts, theoretical frameworks, or explanatory models, as well as to choose the most suitable means to carry out their work.
Article 47) All publications or other types of research products must ensure the required scientific quality.
Therefore, the iyA JOURNAL requests that researchers cite the texts consulted for their research, following the citation and referencing manual, APA Standards, seventh edition (2019). In this regard, and to maintain compliance with the quality standards of scientific publication, resulting from the arduous study task, according to their themes and out of respect for it, likewise, to guarantee the unpublished and original nature of the results, all contributions received by this editorial instance will be subjected to strict and thorough review to preserve the integrity and quality of scientific research.

The Scientific Journal of Engineering and Architecture iyA does not have charges for article, essay, or project submissions, nor for text editing. The journal operates under full Open Access.
The journal aims to provide a platform for researchers, professionals, and students to share their innovative ideas and findings with the global scientific community.
