About the Journal

The Journal of Health Sciences of Universidad Americana is an annual publication of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Universidad Americana (UAM–Nicaragua). It accepts manuscripts in the following formats: original scientific research articles, review articles (academic essays and systematic reviews), and case reports.
The Journal of Health Sciences operates under an open-access model, offering a free dissemination space for scientific contributions from various disciplines and research lines within the health sciences.

Statement on Editorial Standards, Data Use and Reuse, and Open Access

The Journal of Health Sciences (RECISAL) of Universidad Americana adheres to international standards of integrity, ethics, and open science, in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the LILACS Network. In this regard, the journal commits to the following principles:

Editorial Standards and Best Practices

The Journal of Health Sciences (RECISAL) ensures compliance with editorial standardization criteria, regular publication frequency, and transparent editorial processes. All manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process designed to guarantee scientific quality, academic relevance, and originality.

Use and Reuse of Research Data

Within the framework of open science, the journal promotes the availability, use, and responsible reuse of research data associated with published articles. Authors are required to provide sufficient information to enable study reproducibility, in line with open data policies, while fully respecting confidentiality, participant safety, and the ethical protection of sensitive data.

Open Access and Transparency

All journal content is published under an open-access model, allowing unrestricted access, downloading, copying, distribution, printing, and use for academic and non-commercial purposes, without subscription or payment barriers. This principle aims to contribute to the democratization of knowledge and to strengthen equity in the circulation of scientific research within the region.

Compliance with International Guidelines

The Journal of Health Sciences (RECISAL) adheres to the guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communications (C4DISC), and the EQUATOR Network, to ensure transparency, inclusion, diversity, and ethical responsibility throughout all stages of scientific communication.
